Jenson Button to race at Japanese GP; his 'second home' this weekend
Jenson Button claims that the Japanese grand prix will not be remotely strange for him as it is his second home. It's pertinent to mention why Jenson Button keeps calling Japan as his second home? The answer is that this British driver is currently in a
relationship with Japanese lingerie model Jessica Michibata. The two celebrities have been together since a long time now and support each other in almost every event they participate in.
"Tokyo is one of the greatest cities in the world - just an endlessly exciting place to discover and explore, and Suzuka is the perfect venue for the Japanese Grand Prix - one of the world's truly great circuits, and a supreme challenge for any racing driver,”
he said.
The McLaren driver stated that he has spent a large part of his Formula 1 career working in Japan and that is the reason why he calls Japan as his “second home”.
“I love the whole Suzuka experience - the fact that it's a real trek to reach from Europe, the amusement park that you walk through to get to the paddock, the incredibly loyal and friendly Japanese fans, who cheer me on all weekend, and the whole atmosphere,”
he added.
The Japanese grand prix, according to the defending champion, is extremely intense and frantic due to the fact that the race plays a crucial part in the outcome of both drivers’ and constructors’ championships.
However, the one thing that evades the defending world champion is the fact that he has never been able to win at Suzuka. He has had some good results at the Japanese grand prix but no victory. The British driver believes that Suzuka suites his driving style
as it is all about scrubbing off as little speed as possible through the turns and maintaining a smooth and an accurate rhythm. Suzuka does not allow any mistakes and punishes every small error by disabling the driver to regain the pace.
“Obviously, there's no room for mistakes, but any of the top five drivers could easily steal the title. It might seem a disadvantage to be behind in the points’ standings, but make no mistake; I know I can win this championship. I am still as determined
as ever to keep No. 1 on my car for 2011,” he added.
The championship is at the brink of its climax as the top five drivers are divided by just 25 points in the drivers’ standings. There is no room for mistakes anymore and the championship is getting very intense. Jenson Button is currently at the 5th
place in the drivers’ standings with 177 points. The defending champion has been having some consistent finishes but he will have to put in something extra in his performance if he wants to defend his title this year. McLaren is not looking as bad as its results
and it is very disappointing to see both of the drivers not giving 110% at such a crucial part of the Formula 1 world championship. The McLarens have been qualifying very well but Lewis has not been able to finish since the past 2 races while teammate Jenson
Button has not been able to work his way up the grid keeping in mind he has been qualifying in the 2nd row since the past couple of races. McLaren and its drivers will have to take it up a notch and focus on their consistency rather than their pace
as it is quite clear that the team is in a good shape in terms of speed. The McLaren drivers will have to keep their cool and score some safe finishes if they want to stay in the hunt for the drivers’ title. If any of the two McLaren drivers makes a single
mistake in the coming grand prix, the team will have to wave its championship hopes goodbye.
