Jenson Button turns more aggressive
After a couple of calm and quiet races during midseason, the world auto racing champion is once again back in the arena with full force and strength.
Having finished his last race in Italy at second position and now Friday night’s practice session in Singapore at third place behind the two Red Bulls, Button is roaring loud that he would not let go the title easily.
The season’s fifteenth round is to be staged at the Marina Bay track this Sunday night. It seems to be a tricky and demanding track due to the intense corners and a number of bumps. Moreover, the McLaren car has also not performed well at high downforce
tracks earlier this season while its competitors, Red Bull and Ferrari have performed quite brilliantly at similar tracks.
Still, both the team drivers Button and Lewis Hamilton seem confident for this race as many modifications have been carried out in their package which had been successfully tested at the first two practice sessions. As the drivers returned from their practice
sessions, Formula One’s official website talked to Button probing his fears and aspirations for the next round.
He started off telling, “Our car is aerodynamically stronger coming here. I think the team has done a great job to improve the car - throwing everything they can at it. I hope Lewis and myself will have a great weekend and also some good results.”
McLaren showed some good pace at the practice session but pace is not all that could help at this part of the season. Rather a strong race strategy would also be required. At Monza, Button’s second place finish was the result of good team strategy. However,
a little better work at the pit lane could have even elevated him to the first position.
As the team now heads for the next round, Button hopes that the team is cooking a race plan that would give them an advantage over the others. While talking about the qualifying, he said that it is definitely important and could play a decisive role for
the race day. The British driver has had a few good qualifying earlier this season but it is not one of his strengths. At many of the races, he has actually performed far better on the final day than in his qualifying.
He explained saying, “Qualifying is important but you pick up the points on Sunday. This championship will be won by consistency- finishing races through reliability- but also finishing on the podium.” Furthermore, he seemed thrilled to state that the track
is a great one and so is the atmosphere in Singapore. The entire Island is so festive and jubilant that it seems as if the Formula One is taking over the city for one weekend.
He happily added that the fans are always passionate here while camera flashes from the jam packed grandstands at night gives a pleasant feeling. While concluding, he stated that all the top five drivers are great fighters and Ferrari as well as Red Bull
have fast cars so the tug is going to be quite tough till the last race in Abu Dhabi.
