Jenson Button versus Lewis Hamilton – a race between a turtle and a rabbit
Jenson Button, the reigning world champion is no more like a pain in the neck for Lewis Hamilton as Jenson has been underperforming race after race and it seems that there is no chance of him winning the title anymore. However, Button
still believes that he has a shot at the title keeping in mind as he is 42 points adrift of the 2010 drivers’ standings leader Fernando Alonso.
Since there are two races left, there are only 50 points up for the grabs maximum and there is no way that Jenson can win 2 races in a row. Jenson is one of the most deceiving drivers in Formula 1 since he manages to get a good place in
a race and eventually use that to his advantage and get results. This means that he does not let anyone pass him nor does he pass anyone himself. He becomes quite annoying for the drivers that are behind him since he travels at such a slow pace, that the leaders
gain a comfortable lead over him and therefore, keeps the rest of the pack way behind the leading drivers.
Jenson Button has been claiming that he will get aggressive race after race but all he does is get worse. Jenson finished in a disappointing 12th place to finish pointless in the inaugural Korean grand prix. It
was the perfect opportunity for him to gain some ground in the 2010 drivers’ championship but he blew it and therefore, he does not deserve to be the 2010 drivers’ champion.
The reigning world champion has stated that he will race for himself and not help his teammate Lewis Hamilton in his championship chase keeping in mind Lewis is just 21 points adrift of the drivers’ standings leader Fernando Alonso and
therefore he has a better chance of winning the title.
McLaren should work on a strategy and at least try to achieve either of the titles. As for the drivers’ title, if McLaren really wants one of its drivers to win the title, McLaren should focus on Lewis Hamilton now and help him in his
run. Jenson Button is clearly out of the championship run and if the team does support Jenson Button then there is no way that McLaren can win the drivers’ championship this year and all the hard work will go to waste all because of the reigning world champion.
Lewis Hamilton on the other hand has been more determined than ever and it seems that he can win the title with a little bit of support and help from his team. Keeping in mind Lewis retired in 3 out of the past 6 races, Hamilton is an
aggressive driver and he knows what to do in what situation (well not exactly but still). McLaren cannot win this year’s title if they play a safe game and they are aware that they will have to take risks.
Jenson Button is not a risk taking driver. He is satisfied with whatever he has just like the 12th place he took at the Korean grand prix where did not overtake even a single car. It seems that he does not even
care that he is running for the 2010 drivers’ title.
Lewis Hamilton retired out of 3 races only because he wanted to win and get the best result for his team. That’s another story that he retired while trying to do that but at least he tried.
McLaren has both a safe and an aggressive driver with them and it’s about time that they both work together and do something for the team.
