Jenson Button wants competition even when he is on a break
2009 Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button had a good first season with McLaren as he was able to compete for the drivers’ title until the 2nd last race of the season. He finished in 5th place just 36 points behind his teammate Lewis
Hamilton who finished in 4th place in the drivers’ standings. Team McLaren performed consistently throughout the first half of the 2010 Formula 1 season but it seems that the second half of the championship was a disaster for them.
Both Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button finished a number of races without scoring a single point and since Lewis retired in 3 races in the second half of the season, the team was unable to secure maximum possible points disabling the team to win the constructors’
title as well.
At first, Lewis was leading the drivers’ standings when the second half of the season began but the team clearly did not have pace especially at the Asian circuits. However, Jenson Button hopes to perform at his best in 2011 and hopefully compete in a more
comfortable position.
Until the 2011 Formula 1 season begins, Jenson does not want to sit home and watch television (preferably cartoons like s****. Doo) like most of the drivers. He wants more competition. Well, frankly speaking, it seems he wants to win desperately.
Jenson Button will take part in the City of Rockingham Triathlon. He will obviously be the highlight of the event and the event organisers also confirmed that the 2009 Formula 1 champion will take part in the triathlon.
He will have to compete against 800 other competitors including his Asian girlfriend Jessica Michibata. Now that is going to be a sight. Will Jenson let his girlfriend win or is she competing just as a “wing girl” for him in order to secure that her beloved
boyfriend wins?
The triathlon will consist of a 750m swim, 20km cycle and a 5km run. The organisers of the Triathlon believe that the British driver is physically fit and it is not easy to beat him at anything. It is a part of his off-season fitness regime and his competitors
are looking forward to competing against him once again.
“Some people use Formula 1’s winter season as a time to wind down, but I love to compete,” Button said in a statement. So it’s fantastic to be able to stay competitive while also working on my fitness by taking part in the Rockingham Triathlon,” according
to the organisers of the Triathlon.
The event will take place on the 19th of December starting at 8am at Bell Park on the foreshore.
