Jenson Button will be excited to have Fernando Alonso as teammate – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button says that he will be excited to have Fernando Alonso of Ferrari as his teammate.
However, he said that only if his current teammate, Lewis Hamilton is not an option.
Moreover, Button said that Alonso will prove out to be quite an ideal teammate as he is well experienced and the winner of two drivers’ championship titles. Nevertheless, it doesn’t imply that Button who is the winner of the season opener at Albert Park
in Melbourne, Australia is looking forward to move to the Red team from McLaren at any time in future.
Furthermore, the British driver said that his fellow compatriot, Hamilton has a great pace and he is pleased with his teammate. However, if Hamilton would not have been in F1, he will relish having Alonso as a teammate.
“Lewis is extremely quick, we see that all the time, and it's really exciting having a team-mate like that,” the 32-year-old is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail. “It's tough on some days, but other days it's great, and it's a real challenge, which I like.
But if Lewis wasn't in Formula One, for example, I personally feel it would be exciting having Fernando as a team-mate.”
Alonso is leading the drivers’ championship so far with 35 points after securing fifth position in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia and an amazing victory in the second GP at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
Conversely, Button could not secure any points in second race and finished at 14th position as he damaged his front wing after his collision with Narain Karthikeyan of HRT in 15th lap. Later, he accepted that it was completely his fault.
In addition, Button said that he was impressed by the pace of Alonso.
Besides, Button said that the Spaniard is very talented and he will feel extremely delighted on working with him.
“Fernando is extremely talented, he is a double world champion, he is fast. Is he the fastest in the sport? Probably not, and he would probably say the same, but he is very intelligent,” he said.
