Jenson Button worried over his start at the Bahrain Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Jenson Button has shown concerns over McLaren’s start for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Button said that McLaren will be starting on the dirty side of the grid and it might be problematic for the team. Although track conditions have improved markedly but the grip level off the racing line is still very low and the Brit is most worried about
the start because of that.
He said that getting a good start will be imperative for the team’s chances in the race. Both the McLaren drivers will be starting on the “dirty” side of the grid according to Button, which he felt will make things all the more difficult for them.
He also mentioned that tyre management will remain key as it has been the case so far in the season. Even with the hurdles at hand Button suggested that he is very keen to take on the challenge at hand.
Button talked about his struggles during the Friday practice run and said, “Fourth position wasn't quite what I'd been hoping for, but it's not too bad “It's always a horrible feeling on your final Q3 lap when the balance isn't quite where you want it. I
couldn't get the best from the car so I pitted early to save the tyres. Besides, fourth isn't too bad anyway.”
“The car is definitely a lot better than it was yesterday - we made some improvements overnight. We'd expected the Red Bulls to be very quick in qualifying, so to be close to them is a positive,” he added.
Button won the opening race of the season at the Australian Grand Prix, and has since been unfortunate to miss out on opportunities to add to his win so far. The title run is still very much open and Bahrain GP will be a perfect time to strike a win to move
ahead of the pack running for the highest accolades.
It will be interesting to see how the team fares at Bahrain as Sebastian Vettel secured his first pole position with Hamilton placed second, Mark Webber at third and Jenson Button fourth. It will be an exciting battle between the two teams.
