Jenson Button’s aspirations for the Brazilian Grand Prix
The upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix is expected to be just as thrilling and exciting as the entire season has been. After having witnessed such interesting and surprising rounds, where the championship probabilities kept on changing
dramatically, one surely expects the last two races of 2010 to be equally exhilarating.
The 2010 Formula One calendar is to hold two more Grands Prix; the next one is to be held in Brazil while the last race of the season will be hosted by Abu Dhabi. As the caravan of cars gets prepared for the eighteenth round of
the season, the drivers as well as the teams talked to the media expressing their aspirations and fears for the rest two races.
The last round in Korea has unwounded so dramatically and unpredictably, that the climax and suspense of the last two rounds has now further enhanced. With three of the top five racers leaving the track pointless at such a crucial
time of the championship, one can only drop jaws and bulge out eyes in anticipation and awe to see what is going to happen next.
Among many other unlucky men of the day was the McLaren driver, Jenson Button who has almost lost his chances of a consecutive title win owing to the poor finish at the Korean Grand Prix. Currently, he stands at 5th place
in the Drivers’ Championship with 189 points under his belt. On the other hand, the 5th race win of Fernando Alonso has escalated him to the top of the tally with a total of 231 points under his belt. The British driver now stands 42 points adrift
Alonso, with only two more races to go and just 50 more points to fight for.
At this stage, many believe that McLaren must focus towards its other team driver, Lewis Hamilton, as he is in a far better position to win the 2nd championship of his Formula One career.
However, both, the team as well as Button, are adamant to keep fighting till the very end of the rope. While talking to the media earlier today, the driver said that he is not going to give up at any cost, he believes that the
season has unfolded very unpredictably and now the rest two races can also bring more surprises.
While talking about the upcoming race in Brazil, the title defender said, "The Brazilian Grand Prix is a special race for me because it's where I won the world championship last year. This will be the first time I've been back
since then, so I'm really looking forward to it. Interlagos is an incredible racetrack - a place where you can race hard, where all your mistakes are punished and where you're really rewarded for attacking. I think our package will be well suited to this circuit.”
The last year’s Brazilian Grand Prix was no doubt one of the best races ever seen by the driver. He was fast, furious, and at last successful. After a poor qualifying round, he started off the race from 14th place on
the grid and then as the race proceeded he cruised through the track incredibly to end at the top of the podium.
Now, as he heads for the same track once again he said that, at the end of the day there are two factors that raise a driver to victory: Firstly, a great driving show and secondly, the pointless finish by some of the other leading
drivers. "Given the points situation, I know that I face an uphill struggle to hold on to the world title, but I'll be giving it everything I've got this weekend to stay in contention. I fought hard to become the 2009 world champion, and I won't give up my
title without a fight," said Button.
