Jeremiah Bishop and Amanda Carey win sixth stage of 2011 Trans-Sylvania Epic: Cycling News
Cannondale team’s Jeremiah Bishop won the sixth stage of 2011 Trans-Sylvania Epic in Rothrock Tussey Mountain on Friday, June 3.
The 35-year-old Jeremiah Bishop took a total of 2 hours, 45 minutes and 39 seconds to cover a distance of 61 kilometres.
Fourth stage winner, Jason Sager of the Jamis team was the runner-up with 30 seconds behind Bishop. His team-mate, Alex Grant, was in third place with a difference of 6 minutes and 37 seconds.
Jonathan Davis of the Trek Bike Store Boulder team was also in good form, but grabbed the 11th spot with 24 minutes and 29 seconds.
After winning the stage, Jason Sager told the media, "I heard that Sneddon was gaining faster than Grant so we had to go right away and leave Grant at that point. We were going man to man. Kris chased hard and I went hard."
A group of three cyclists made their first break including, Jason Sager, Alex Grant and Jeremiah Bishop.
Bishop maintained his speed in the single track climb, but after few kilometres, he lost his chain, due to this Sager joined him back. In the final four miles, Sager worked hard to take on the victory, but Bishop had good legs and crossed the finish-line
without any difficulty.
The seven cyclists including James Spurk, Josh Patterson and Sloane Anderson were disqualified.
In the women side, Amanda Carey won the sixth stage with a timing of 3 hours, 27 minutes and 46 seconds. Selene Yeager tried her best to take lead, but grabbed the second spot with 2 minutes and 26 seconds. Karen Potter finished third with 6 minutes and
14 seconds.
In the single speed race, Morgan Miller took a lead ahead of Rich Dillen who was in second spot and overall leader Rich Straub finished third.
Rich Dillen said, "When Morgan saw Straub it was over, f**k it, I had stopped to straighten my rotor then I rode behind Miller for a while but when he saw Straub he was gone. I wanted no part of it."
The sixth stage, Eagle Little Poe will start on June 3, and cyclists will cover the distance of 42 kilometres.
