  2. I would suggest that you go to the following website.  It has tons of information regarding cemeteries in Georgia including Green County.  There was even a book published, "Cemeteries of Greene County Georgia", by E. H. Armor, publisher was Agee, published June 1988.

  3. I have some photos of the Sanford plot at Greensboro City Cemetery that I took a few years ago. I would be happy to share them with you. Please let me know the best way to do this.

  4. will text help?

"near this grave is that of Jeremiah Sanford on whose monument is inscribed ' JEREMIAH SANFORD, born in Virginia, Nov 4, 1739; died Aug 11, 1825. He was a soldier of the Revolution, a friend of Washington, and an honest man".

on another page, it comments that he himself dictated what he wanted on his tombstone.  Also.. he drew land in the 1827 land lottery, if you did not know this.

It goes on to comment that he was the ancestor of all the Georgia Sanfords.  Son in law Robert E. Martin is buried nearby.

source is Rice/Williams History of Greene co, Georgia.  One of my treasured county histories .. if you have other kin there, let me know.
