Jeremy Bagshaw claims Men’s 400m freestyle gold: Day three – 2012 Canadian Summer Nationals
Jeremy Bagshaw of Island Swimming claimed gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle on third day of the 2012 Canadian Summer Nationals at the Edmonton Kinsmen Sport Centre in Edmonton on Saturday, July 21.
The 20-year-old Bagshaw served notice of his talent in the mediocre distant freestyle discipline. With his fascinating pace, he remained considerably faster from his fellow swimmers and reached the wall for first position.
With his continuous efforts, Bagshaw remained in a full body length lead over his following rival as he earned his way to the top of medal rostrum for gold medal with the timing of 3 minutes and 52.16 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Kier Maitland of KEYANO, who stayed 1.08 seconds slower and stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by producing an effort of 3 minutes and 53.24 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Chad Bobrosky of CASC, who remained 1.96 seconds behind and sprinted his way to the finishing blockade for bronze medal by submitting a time of 3 minutes and 55.20 seconds.
Similarly, Bobrosky was followed by Keegan Zanatta of Island Swimming, who stayed 0.59 seconds apart and settled on the finishing end as fourth position holder by clocking a time of 3 minutes and 55.79 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Frank Despond of TSC, who stayed 0.26 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 3 minutes and 56.05 seconds.
Despond was traced by Teddy Kalp of NYAC, who remained 1.03 seconds away from upsetting his former finisher and posted a time of 3 minutes and 57.08.
The 15-year-old Kalp was followed by Aly Abdel-Khalik of ESWIM, who stayed 0.21 seconds apart and ended seventh in the discipline with an effort of 3 minutes and 57.29 seconds.
Eighth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Aly’s teammate, Hassaan Abdel-Khalik, who tapped the finishing end with the timing of 3 minutes and 58.48 seconds.
Furthermore, Bagshaw was very happy as he received huge acknowledgment from the crowd for his noteworthy efforts after the event.
