Jeremy Hellickson looking to bring the series equaliser home with debut post-season performance
Tampa Bay Rays’ pitcher Jeremy Hellickson is eyeing a good outing in Game 4 of the American League Division Series and he has a big objective to fulfil this time around.
Squaring off against the Texas Rangers, Hellickson is tasked to win the game for the Rays in order to equalise the series score and move the competition to Game 5. The player talked to the press on Monday, October 3 from Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg
after Game 3.
Rays lost the recent game against the Rangers 4-3 and now they have the hard task of getting back to the deadlock. One man who can surely restrict the Rangers is Hellickson. The premier pitcher was impressive in the regular season as he cropped up an American
League best earned run average of 2.90. With a figure below three, the pitcher is expected to do a lot for the club in Game 4.
Hellickson was 13-10 in the season with 28 game starts and 116 strike-outs. The stage is set for the rookie ball thrower to put the fans behind him and the Rays up on front. The pitcher is looking to maintain a simple approach against the Rangers and manager
Joe Maddon believes in him well enough to trust his intuition.
"You know, I think I just have to go out there and take it like any other game," Hellickson said.
"Everybody's on deck," manager Joe Maddon said. "We'll see how it plays out. Of course, I like Jeremy's ability versus this team right here. So, one moment at a time, we will be ready."
There is however concern that six days of rest will leave the pitcher, rusty.
"I've gotten a lot of extra days between starts throughout the year," Hellickson said.
Hellickson will be called to his first post-season game in his career. It will be exciting to see what impact he has and if he will be able to lead the Rays to a much needed victory in Game 4. All eyes will be on the pitcher with the hopes of the Rays’ fans
riding on his shoulders.
