Jeremy Jacobs thankful to Boston Bruins for the superb run that they made for the club this season - NHL
It is one of the few occasions that the Bruins’ team and its coach of the team have been able to interact with the owner of the team, Jeremy Jacobs. The owner was extremely delighted over the players and coach’s efforts in making such a superb run to bring the club to the limelight this season.
He has kept hold of Bruins for over 30 years and most of the decisions that the team makes are from their huge fan base.
When the team reached the Stanley Cup Final after 21 years, Jeremy came into the locker room to congratulate the players and the coach on their achievement.
"Oh I did, yeah I did. You have to, why wouldn't you?", said Jacobs when asked during a rare press conference if he addressed the team. "They listen to me, which is unusual. Most people won't”.
"No, it was a great experience to visit with them and to understand the ambition that I share with them. Our ambition is to go and win the Stanley Cup. And like I say, we were in Prague 100 games ago. One hundred games these guys have skated. There is a common bond now that exists between everybody. You really build an organization, and I say a hockey organization, a player organization. The athletes are all committed to a central point, and that is a wonderful thing to see and a wonderful place to be".
Bruins has been unable to come up with the expected results for quite a few years and the owner also hasn’t seen a Stanley Cup during his era.
Therefore, this occasion was really special for the players and the team as they made their way into the Finals and have a good chance of emerging as winners.
The owner was amazed at how the team performed during the postseason after making a weak start. They were trailing to Montreal Canadiens by 2-0 after the first two games and there were widespread speculations about Bruins’ future in the Stanley Cup play-offs.
Nevertheless, they brushed passed their competitors all the way into the Conference Finals. After a tough battle against Tampa Bay Lightning, they won the series with a 1-0 win in the final game of the series.
