Jeremy Lin believes that God has played a major role in his success – NBA Update
The rise of Jeremy Lin has been nothing short of an amazing story.
He came through the New York Knicks ranks and stardom quickly followed. The player in a recently held media session during his visit to Taiwan revealed that he considers God to have played a major role in his success and 13 particular
incidents in his life have been of great influence.
"If any one of the 13 things didn't happen, there would never have been Linsanity," Lin said. "That's God's work in the miracle of my life."
Lin has been helping young kids in Taiwan by teaching them the basics of basketball for the past nine days and also featured in a Volvo commercial over that time.
Speaking to the media at a huge gathering in New Taipei City, Lin revealed that acts of God had a major role for his basketball career.
As a kid, Lin had wanted play basketball at the University of Stanford which was close to his home in Palo Alto.
However, being unable to secure a scholarship led him to play basketball in Harvard which helped him as playing under Tommy Amaker turned out to be a good thing for him.
To add further challenges to his desire to be a professional basketball player, Lin went undrafted out of Harvard and had to come through the D-League. But, he did not let getting waived off by the Houston Rockets and Golden State
Warriors get in his way as he continued to work hard.
Lin went on to discuss the circumstances during which he had his breakout game. In February, the Knicks were set to play the Brooklyn Nets – their third opponents in as many nights. So in order to cope with the fatigue, Mike D’Antoni
decided to give Lin a chance.
However, Lin made the best of that opportunity and turned a 10 point deficit into a game winning performance for the Knicks thus giving rise to the Linsanity phenomenon. In the next 13 games, Lin averaged 22.3 points per game but
his impressive run was short lived as he went down with injury. And so did the Knicks as they only managed the 8th seed in the Eastern conference.
During the summer, Lin signed a $25.1 million deal with the Houston Rockets. Will he be able to continue his rise to greatness or not, nothing can be said. But Lin is sure that God will be on his side.
"God has proven faithful to me in the highs and the lows in life,"
