Jeremy Lin fires as New York Knicks bulldoze Atlanta Hawks 99 – 82 – NBA Recap
New York Knicks and their rising star Jeremy Lin are on a roll at the moment.
On Wednesday night, they were hosting Atlanta Hawks - one of the stronger teams in the league and the game was expected to be a thrilling encounter. However, it turned out to be a one sided affair as the new and improved, Lin fuelled,
Knicks side pummelled the guests 99-82, improving their record to 17-17.
Lin was phenomenal yet again and marshalled the Knicks with 17 points on a perfect 4 for 4 from the charity stripe, 2 boards and 9 assists. Steve Novak was impressive as well and recorded 17 points including 5 for 10 from the long
range. Landry Fields netted 16 points while Carmelo Anthony scored 15 points.
Jeff Teague led the Hawks with 18 points on 7 for 12 from the floor while Willie Green bundled 16 points. Only Josh Smith made it into double figures apart from those to, which sums up why Hawks failed to challenge the Knicks in
the game.
After scores were levelled at 16 all in the first 8 minutes of the game, the Knicks changed gears and initiated a magnificent 14-0 run to end the first quarter 30-16.
The Hawks failed to find baskets consistently in the second quarter as well and on the other hand, Knicks pushed on. They scored quickly to boost the lead to 20 plus points midway through the quarter, by the end of which, the game
had completely slipped away from Hawks, 60-35.
When Anthony drilled a 3 in the second minute of the third quarter, the lead had increased to 30 points 67-37. After that, the Hawks showed some urgency and rattled a 19-2 run to slash the deficit to 13 points 56-69. However, it
was answered by a 9-0 spurt by the Knicks which again put them in a commanding position at 78-56.
Atlanta failed to make a comeback in the deciding quarter and in the end lost by a mammoth 17 point margin. The win for the Knicks has perfectly set the stage for their marquee game against the Miami Heat tomorrow.
