Jeremy Lin included in the roster of Rising Stars game - NBA Update
New York Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin has stunned the NBA frat with his outstanding performances in the last two weeks. 23 year old Lin, who was an unknown entity in the NBA for two years, has all of a sudden become the biggest talk in the league.
His magical displays have not only earned him worldwide praises, but have also earned him a place in the NBA Rising Stars challenge that is scheduled to take place on February 24th at Orlando.
Earlier, NBA commissioner David Stern denied the news of late addition of Lin to the roster of rising stars challenge, however the pressure that Stern faced from NBA, because of Lin’s heroics in the last few days left him with no option than to announce
his addition.
Lin was selected by NBA legend Shaquille O Neal as the third pick for the challenge- first two picks being Los Angeles Clippers Blake Griffin and Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Kyrie Irving respectively.
Lin has also been invited to take part in the Sprite Slam Dunk contest with a motive to offer him assistance in a similar manner that was given to Blake Griffin last year, which helped him in improving his dunks massively.
NBA is also expected to make Lin a part of the Haier Shooting Stars Competition as well.
Lin’s life has transformed in a matter of hardly two weeks and all the hype around him is completely justified. The Chinese born Lin is the first Asian-American starter in NBA history which is a massive achievement for him.
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who was in New York on Sunday, was delighted with this epic saga of the rise of this new star.
"It's great for the league, so you've got to love it. And Jeremy Lin is a great kid, so I'm happy for him."
“Whenever an underdog comes out of nowhere and doesn't fit a particular profile ... Everybody profiles athletes, right? So to have him come in and be counter to everybody's profile or expectations -- right or wrong -- draws attention and that's good. Hopefully,
that will encourage other kids and even more diversity with kids who play basketball."
Lin is still in his early days, and his inclusion in such competitions is definitely going to boost his confidence further. Lin is sure to be enjoying all this at the moment, and in future, will be looking to ensure that he remains consistent.
