Jeremy Lin makes a triumphant return to the New York; Says he will remember the Linsanity era forever…..
"It was the time of my life, just being able to play basketball and for us to win games and do it in the fashion that we did was so much fun, and energy and buzz, so definitely something I'll remember forever,"
That was what Jeremy Lin, the point guard who went from being a deep bench player to an international star within a matter of days, said upon his return to the place which launched him, the Madison Square Garden, home to the New
York Knicks.
And he made sure that he takes fond memories from his only visit to his former club this season. Lin scored 22 points and dished out eight assists on his return to New York, leading the Houston Rockets to a 109-96 victory, the
first Knicks’ home loss this season.
Undrafted and twice released, Lin was a nobody on the Knicks roster till a desperate Mike D’Antoni, then the Knicks head coach facing a litany of injuries to his roster, had to field the third choice point guard, who was on a temporary
contract. Lin grabbed the opportunity with both hands and in a matter of just two weeks, he put the derailed Knicks playoffs campaign back on track.
He was injured before the playoffs, and became a restricted free agent once the season ended. The Knicks had said on a number of occasion that they wanted to retain Lin, but once Houston Rockets unloaded a back-loaded $ 25 million
– 3 years, with $ 15 million in the last year, the Knicks went for their future financial stability rather than bringing the one guard back.
What they also did was to sign Raymond Felton, Jason Kidd and Pablo Prigioni and the trio has been pivotal in the Knicks excellent start to the season. When asked about the whole episode before the game, Lin said that everything
happened for a reason and there were no hard feelings whatsoever;
"It all happened the way it was supposed to," Lin said. "Going into this summer, I thought I'd be coming back to New York, but everything happens for a reason. There's no hard feelings either way and right now I'm in a different
place in my life, different chapter, different city, different team."
