Jeremy Lin roots for under fire Kris Humphries - NBA Update
New Jersey Nets power forward Kris Humphries' 72 days marriage stint with the reality TV star Kim Kardashian has become his Achilles heel. The whole saga and the negative publicity after it has made him a villain in the eyes of
many and quite a lot of them were present to witness the Nets game against the New York Knicks at the Madison Square Garden on Monday night.
Humphries has been jeered before this season, but the intensity of the virile voices reached a new level in the game which the nets went on to win, courtesy of a brilliant display by point guard Deron Williams.
However, in the midst of all the hostile environment, Humphries found the support from the unlikeliest of person - the rising Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin.
The game turned out to be a good outing for Humphries, who scored 14 points and also grabbed 14 rebounds to help the Nets end their five game losing skid. After the game ended, Lin reached Humphries to congratulate him for the
win and to tell him that he has no clue about the crowd’s attitude.
"He's a really nice guy," said Humphries. "He just said, 'Hey, I don't know why they boo you, but I think it's c**p, and you're playing really well.' That was nice of him to say. He's a really nice guy. ... It's nice to see great
things happen for nice people."
Humphries himself has tackled the hostility pretty well until now. Earlier, he made a statement that he gets motivation from the jeers and the way he has played in the season so far, it seems true. In his seventh professional year,
Kris has really started to show his true potential and is averaging 13.6 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. Considering his career averages 6.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 0.6 steals, that is an achievement. What’s more encouraging is that the forward
is making an intentional effort.
"I think that anytime you've got a lot going on in your life, people always wanna say, 'Hey, maybe this is more important than basketball, and he's distracted' ... [but] I don't ever want Coach [Avery] Johnson to come in and say,
'You look like you're not focused.' ... That's never gonna be me
