Jeremy Lin still trying to sleep on teammates' couches even after landing a $25.1 million contract – NBA News
Jeremy Lin took the NBA by storm last season when he emerged from the depth of the New York Knicks bench to lead the team to a winning streak and back into playoff contention. Lin was given the opportunity to start as the Knicks
point guard when the team was faced with injury troubles, and made full use of the opportunity by landing the Eastern Conference player of the week honours and making the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine two times.
Apart from his immediate ascend to the heights of success and fame in the NBA, and catching the attention of millions of people all across the world, Lin also had another story to tell.
The guard was a member of the Knicks D – League affiliate team in Erie, Pennsylvania and kept going back and forth between New York and Erie before he became a regular starter for the Knicks. And since he did not have a place to
stay in New York, combined with the fact that there is a lack of real estate options in downtown, Lin was staying with his good friend Landry Fields, crashing on his living room couch.
The offseason saw Lin sign with the Houston Rockets for a three year - $25.1 million contract. However, it seems that Lin is still having trouble finding a place he can call home in the fourth largest city of America. His Rockets
team-mate Chandler Parsons took to Twitter recently and posted a picture of his cell phone, which captured Lin texted him asking if he could crash on his couch till the time his furniture arrived at the new home.
Parsons took a jab at the $25.1 million Lin is scheduled to earn over the course of his contract, saying that it was good to see that the money didn’t change him.
Lin is arriving in Houston amid expectations that he will show the same magic that he showed in New York for the entire season, and help the Rockets qualify for the playoffs this upcoming season.
Houston parted ways with both of its point guards, Kyle Lowry and Goran Dragic while also amnestying Luis Scola. Lin has a tough job on his hands as he attempts to help the Rockets climb into the next tier in the Western Conference.
