Jeremy Lin will return to New York on December 17th next season – NBA Update
NBA announced its schedule for next season on Thursday and have set up some exciting matchups in the coming year.
One of the game to watch out for would be the one featuring the return of ‘Linsanity’ back to the Madison Square Garden.
As per the new schedule, Houston Rockets will face off against the New York Knicks on December 17th which will see Jeremy Lin go up against his old team. However this will not be the first time the Knicks go up against Lin and the Rockets during next season. Both sides are set to take each other on at the Toyota Center on November 23.
The Chinese born player who went undrafted out of Harvard was given his chance while at the Knicks by Mike D’Antoni midway during last season.
After barely playing in the first 23 games of the season when given the chance Lin rose to the occasion. In his debut against the New Jersey Nets and Deron Williams, Lin put up career high numbers with 25 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. In the follow up game against the Utah Jazz, Lin pounded 28 points and 8 assists thus giving the rise to the ‘Linsanity’ phenomenon.
Lin was able to repeat his antics for a short while and in the 12 games before the All-Star break he averaged 22.5 points and 8.7 assists which included a career high performance of 38 points against Kobe Bryant and his Los Angeles Lakers.
However as the point guard rose through the popularity ranks, it took his toll on his health. On March 24th, Lin first complained about having a sore knee and eventually had to go through surgery to take care of the problem.
In the 26 games he played for the Big Apple franchise, Lin has some phenomenal performance thus turning the Knicks into a respectable playoff contending team.
At the end of the season, there had been reports that the Knicks are willing to go to any length to keep the sensational player intact as a part of their organization. However when the $25 million offer sheet was thrown their way by the Houston Rockets, they chose otherwise and had to let Lin go.
