Valencia’s poor run of the season continues as they have lost to their derby rivals, Levante, last week and the French full-back, Mathieu, believes that players should be blamed instead of the coach.
Mistakes and lack of good performances on the pitch are what have been causing Valencia’s poor start to the season; which, at the moment, makes them sit at the 14th position and to make things worse, their derby rivals, Levante, have leapfrogged
them in the table.
Some people were wondering if this feat of bad results could be attributed to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 coach, Pellegrino and Mathieu thinks otherwise.
The French full-back has come to the defence of his manager, Pellegrino, and believes the club’s bad start to the season is not to be blamed on the coach and that it can only be blamed on the players. Morever, he asserted that the team has to do more and
show more character if they want to turn their season around.
Additionally, he has also shown his support for the coach and that everyone in the club is with Pellegrino in this difficult time.
“There are no doubts about Pellegrino, the group is with him,” the French fullback told AS. “Clearly he doesn't run on the field, we are the players, and we have to try harder to get results.”
Mathieu is still taking things slowly as he is recovering from a tendon injury.
"I'm recovered, but I'm not 100 per cent so for me tomorrow's game is very good. It's a tendon problem, difficult to cure. I feel a little pain but I can play well, taking care of it after practices and games," he admitted.
He is also encouraging his countryman and teammate, Cissokho, who recently joined him at the club and who is also competing him for the same spot.
“It's Cissokho's first season in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, and he needs to be patient. For now he must give room to those that know the team and the Spanish League," he concluded.
Valencia are currently on the 14th position in the table standings and in their next La Liga match they will face Athletic Bilbao at Estadio Mestalla on October 20.
