Jeremy Powers excelled at the Trek USGP of Cyclocross Derby City Cup 2012
Jeremy Powers of Team Rapha-Focus bagged his second victory of the 2012 season with a first place finish at the Trek USGP of Cyclocross Derby City Cup 2012.
The American yet again showed his might form to mark an easy victory on his major rivals during the US Grand Prix 2012.
He took a total time of 55 minutes and 12 second to occupy the top podium position dropping Ben Berden of Team Raleigh-Clement 21 seconds behind at the second position.
Timothy Johnson of Team Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld finished further 1 second behind at the third position.
Ryan Trebon of Team Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld and James Driscoll of Team Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld achieved the fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
Driscoll who was celebrating his 26th birthday did well to finish amongst the top five after a slow start.
"I wanted to put in a hard race, This was my last race before a big bloc and I wanted to win here because this is a bit of a monumental race for racing here in the States,” Powers told Cyclingnews.
“It's important. I want to race every race 110 percent and this is obviously more important because Worlds are here”.
"I went early but that's because we weeded out so many guys so early with the sand being so hard," he added.
"This is actually a very demanding course so for me to go early wasn't ideal but it was what I had to do today”.
Christopher Jones of Team Rapha-Focus, Tristan Schouten of Team Optum Pro Cycling p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies, Zach McDonald of Team Rapha-Focus, Brian Matter of Team RACC p/b Geargrinder and Daniel Summerhill of Team Chipotle-First Solar Development occupied
the next five positions respectively.
Similarly, Katie Compton of Team Trek Cyclocross Collective wins the Elite Women category of the race after she finished the race in a total time of 40 minutes and 30 seconds.
Katerina Nash of Team Luna Pro finished 1 minute and 4 seconds behind at the second position with Georgia Gould of Team Luna Pro, Helen Wyman of Team Kona Factory and Gabriella Day of Team Rapha-Focus claiming the second, third, fourth and fifth positions
respectively.
