Jeremy Stravius clinches Men’s 100m backstroke gold: 2012 French Short Course Nationals
Jeremy Stravius of Amiens Metropole Nat. clinched gold medal of the Men’s 100m backstroke on third day of 2012 French Short Course Nationals on Saturday, November 17.
Stravius devastated hopes of his opponents in the 100m discipline and proved his mettle for the title. With his commendable form, he stayed marginally ahead of his closest competitor and outperformed him over the finishing blockade for the crown.
Stravius was just a touch faster from his toughest contender as he occupied gold medal of the event by producing a time of 51.18 seconds.
The champion was followed by Benjamin Stasiulis of CN Marseille, who was 0.01 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and occupied silver medal of the race by producing an effort of 51.19 seconds.
Stasiulis was followed by Joris Hustache of Stade Francais O Courbevoie, who was 1.34 second slower from his former finisher and occupied third position of the event by submitting an effort of 52.53 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Paul Pijulet of Aqua Club Pontault-Roissy, who stayed one body length behind and hit the finishing blockade for fourth position by producing an effort of 54.38 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Alexis Cabrol of Dauphins Toulouse OEC, who was 0.06 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and ended his race in a time of 54.44 seconds.
Cabrol was chased by Clement Becq of ES Massy Natation, who stayed 0.30 seconds behind and concluded his race in sixth place by posting a time of 54.74 seconds.
Seventh spot of the event was obtained by Cyril Arot of SN Versailles, who suffered a loss of only 0.06 seconds from his former finisher and posted a time of 54.80 seconds.
Arot was traced by Nathan Bonnel of Mulhouse On, who was 0.58 seconds behind and clocked a time of 55.38 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Stravius was contented with his top finish in the race and stressed that he would continue his hard work in order to accomplish the same at the 2012 World Short Course Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, this December.
