In a very short sprint a good Greyhound could win. In a longer race, the horse would have more endurance and would easily win. Any other dog than a Greyhound and it would be no contest - the horse would have no trouble winning.

Depends what kind of horse and dog but horses would most likely outrun dogs. hope this helps you out a bit!

A horse is faster, a horse has much more power in its legs than a dog.

Consider two persons, a short one and a tall one (long legs).  The taller one will move a greater distance for one pace than the short one.  Its the same when you compare a horse and a dog.

The horse has a bigger heart pumping more blood and hence its supply of oxygen for physical efford is much higher than for a dog.

Depends on the Breed of dog that is running and probably the age of the horse and distance. If a Grey Hound is racing a race horse at a short distance the dog may win. Longer distance the horse would win out for sure.
