Tottenham Hotspur striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 has admitted that while he was frustrated at not being in the starting XI, he had no intention of leaving the club anytime soon.
After returning from injury and the arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 on a season long loan move from Manchester City, Defoe has found himself slipping down the pecking order at Tottenham Hotspur. The manager Harry Redknapp has picked the Togolese striker on
more occasions than one which has made Defoe upset.
He has so far made seven starts in the Premier League, because of which he was linked with a move away. According to reports Premier League rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 are interested in acquiring his signature but have yet to make an official move.
The Spurs boss made it very clear that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international was not for sale and the player himself has revealed that he does not wish to leave anytime soon. He revealed he was looking forward to make appearances for Tottenham Hotspur in the second
half of the season.
Defoe said in an interview:
“I've been here six years, I've never said that once. I think the fans know that.
"It's just a case of me playing. I could understand if I was 19, 20 and I had time on my hands but I'm 29 now and, like I've always said, all I want to do is play football. It's as simple as that."
Meanwhile, Defoe was confident his side could go on to win the Premier League title this season. The English striker felt his side had been on a decent run so far and with luck on their side, they could easily overtake league leaders Manchester City.
He was confident in his side’s ability to claim the Premier League crown, after an unexpectedly decent performance in the first half of the season. He revealed:
“I'm going to say what the manager says - it's not impossible. I think when you really believe anything is possible.
The way we're playing is fantastic. The chances we're creating, the intensity we're playing at, the way we move the ball; it's just been great.”
