Jermaine Pennant keen to stay at Stoke City

Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant says that he is eager to stay on at the club beyond his six-month loan deal, which is set to expire in January.

The on-loan Real Zaragoza man has made nine appearances for the English Premier League club since joining on a temporary basis in August, and he is keen to make his stay a permanent one.

The 27-year-old, who has also played for Arsenal and Liverpool, told reporters, "If the two teams can agree something, I'll be more than happy to put pen to paper. I'm enjoying the way things have been going, living in the area, the team and everything.

"I've played in the Premier League all my career, I've played at some big teams, it's just getting back into the Premier League after being out of it for a year and showing I'm still here.
"(Stoke boss) Tony Pulis has given me a platform to show what I can do, he does say his wingers work the hardest of any in the league and they do, but if it helps the team that's what I'm here to do."

Pennant moved to Zaragoza in the summer of 2009 when his contract with Liverpool expired, but has endured a frustrating spell in Spain. The club struggled in La Liga in the 2009-10 campaign and finished the season in 14th place.

Since returning to the EPL, however, Pennant has performed well for the Potters and Pulis revealed that he is keen to make the ex-Birmingham City man a permanent addition to his squad, but admitted that the transfer could be a complicated one.

He told reporters, "I would be keen for him to stay. But it's not just me, it's a foreign club. It's not like phoning up a manager in England. I don't know who deals with who over there."
