The Bayern Munich defender has labelled the World Cup 2010 finalists amongst the favourites to win the European championship this year.

Boateng feels that Spain and Netherlands are genuine contenders for the title. He insisted that both sides have immense quality and a mix of world-class players who can help them to secure the title.
The former Manchester City man added that the French national team has also recovered from the disappointment in the World Cup 2010 and have developed into a strong team. He added that his side is also amongst the top teams competing

“Spain and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 are the favourites. I think that France can also play a big role. Of course I hope that we will be out in front,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The German international also voiced his opinion on the recent injury concerns to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-c7374. He claimed that the midfielder is a vital part if the team but insisted that the squad has great depth with the likes of
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toni-Kroos-c35425 and Ilkay Gundogan as world-class replacements.
“Yes, for sure. Both players have a lot of quality. One players for Real Madrid, the other for Bayern,” he continued.
Boateng added that Poland and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 cannot be ruled out as possible contenders as they will have great home support. He admitted that the fans will be behind their teams and they have the potential to go all the way.
“I think that Poland and Ukraine will have their fans behind them and have a decent chance of making it out of the group stage. The countries' teams are not bad,” he concluded.
Jerome Boateng is expected to be given the right back role in the national team. The defender will face tough competition from Benedikt Howedes for the starting place when the competition begins.
