The Bayern Munich defender has revealed his desire of winning silverware at Allianz-Arena and wants to prove the Reds' superiority over Borussia Dortmund.
The former Manchester City sweeper believes that the Bavarian giants are far superior to the reigning German champions in every department. Boateng is keen to prove his team’s worth by winning the title this season.
Boateng believes that the Reds were unlucky not to win the title last season, and has assured the fans of success this time around. He believes that the team did not gel in well under former manager, Louis van Gaal, and as a result
they finished third in the table.
The centre-back admitted to Dortmund’s dominance last season, but believes that the German giants are far better than the Black Yellows.
On the other hand, Boateng is convinced with Bayern’s current form during the first-half of the campaign, as they have gone into the winter break as the league leaders. The defender has already set his sights on the Bundesliga
crown and is keen on playing a major role in the club’s success.
Boateng also admitted that one of the main reasons of him moving from Manchester City to Bayern was the hunger of winning silverware. He stated that the Citizens were inconsistent at times, which is not the case at Allianz-Arena.
While talking to Sport-Bild, the 23-year-old mentioned:
“We want to show Dortmund that we're better. The coach has hit the right note with the players, so everyone is going at 100 per cent. This is the reason why I moved to Bayern. I want to win titles, and I feel that after the not-so-successful
results of last year, the players are hungry for new titles."
Since his arrival from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, the player has appeared in 12 league games thus far and is yet to find the back of the net for the Allianz-Arena outfit.
Boateng managed only 16 league appearances with the Citizens during his one-year stay at the Etihad Stadium. He was also part of the 2010/11 FA Cup winning squad, which defeated Stoke City in the final.
