Jerome D’Ambrosia excited about the 2011 Formula 1 season
Jerome D’Ambrosio recently signed an official deal with Virgin Racing Team for a full season drive for the 2011 Formula 1 season. Jerome was the test driver for the team and raced for the team during the last few races as a replacement for Lucas di Grassi,
until the grand finale at Abu Dhabi.
Virgin have finally revealed their drivers’ list and according to the this information it seems, Timo Glock will be back with Virgin in 2011 and will race alongside his new teammate Jerome D’Ambrosio.
Jerome is extremely excited to finally have a full time seat with the team and he believes that this is the beginning of his career and the breakthrough he needed.
The Belgian driver was able to impress his team vitally at the post-season test session in Abu Dhabi where he showcased his exceptional skills and proved that he has the pace to keep up with other Formula 1 drivers and is aware of the technicalities of the
sport.
“I’m thrilled to have achieved my goal of a Formula 1 race seat with Virgin Racing. When I came to the team in September this year it was everything I could hope for,” said the young Belgian.
He believes that he has a very experienced and talented teammate in Timo Glock and he is hoping that together they can produce better results for the team. The three new teams Lotus, Virgin and HRT joined the Formula 1 grid in 2010 and it seems that all
three of them were able to prove themselves and meet the FIA’s expectations.
“I had a tough test to complete because there was a lot of competition for this seat, but at the same time I got on well with the team and felt that I had found my home. I feel very comfortable with them – they are extremely professional and ambitious people
and it is exciting to think that I can be a part of shaping the team’s future,” he added.
However, many believe that this signing was just a business deal, similar to the one Williams made with Pastor Maldonado. People believe this, because Jerome brought a major sponsor from Gravity Sport Management along with him.
D’Ambrosio is going to test for Virgin in February in Virgin’s new car, the VR-02. Timo Glock is happy with this decision and is hoping for the best possible results next season.
“After a tough but rewarding debut season for our team we now have a lot of hard work to do to take Virgin Racing to the level we should be performing at in 2011. I for one cannot wait to get started in the new car when testing begins in February,” said
Glock.
