Jerome Taylor jumps on the anti http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Cricket Board bandwagon: Cricket News
West Indian fast bowler, Jerome Taylor, has also criticised the West Indian Cricket Board for its handling of senior players as he pursues his stint at the Indian Premier League, the right arm speedster is representing new comers, Pune Warriors, in the championship
after facing the axe from the Caribbean squad since June last year.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 stated that he was forced to join the league as the WICB had little interest in him and constantly ignored him citing his injury. The fiery pacer though insisted that his injury was not a major concern hence he travelled to India to take part in the
cash rich league a move that he had resisted for the last two seasons.
He asked for an NOC from WICB for participation in the league, which was duly granted by the governing body of the game in the region. He added that his desire was to play for his team and lead the bowling attack as the team looks to re-group after the disappointment
of the World Cup tournament where the two time champions were sent packing in the quarter-finals by Pakistan.
"I had asked the WICB for an NOC due to the fact that I wasn't a contracted player with the WICB. I was in a preparation camp for the Four Day tournament and didn't get selected in the 30-man preliminary squad for the World Cup, which
none of the selectors said anything to me about even though I was fit enough to be preparing for the first-class competition”.
He added that there was hardly any communication he had with the board before arriving in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, other than the NOC request that he made.
He stated that the national selector, Robert Haynes, spoke to him during the four-day tournament "But no one contacted me about my injury before I came here," Taylor said. “It was only after he reached India, he added, that he'd been contacted
by the board about his fitness”.
He disclosed the details of the correspondence he had with the administration on April 7, 2011, after he had arrived in India to start his stint with the Warriors.
The head of the Cricket Board Dr. Hilaire inquired about his condition and also stated that the Pune Warriors management and medical staff would be asked to give an input on his physical condition in order to have him considered for the
remainder of the international cricket season.
The West Indians are currently taking part in a Test and One Day series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. The ODI series was won by the visitors who stormed to a 3-0 lead before losing the last two games, the last one by an ignominious 10 wickets margin.
In recent days the WICB has had to deal with a lot of flak from the senior lot the likes of Chris Gayle, Shiv Chanderpaul and now Taylor. The players have spoken openly about the treatment meted out to him by the governing body of the
game. The claim that WICB has been pursuing its own interest and is deliberately ignoring senior players despite their solid international records.
The Chief of the Board, Hilaire, was targeted by Gayle and Chanderpaul, the Guyanese Chanderpaul wrote a series of letters asking Hilaire to explain his remarks on the senior lot whom he had criticised for its behaviour and unprofessional
attitude towards the game.
However Chanderpaul has been included in the squad that is set to play Pakistan in the two match test series that starts on the May 12.
