Jerome d’Ambrosio: I cannot wait to drive Formula 1 car at high speed in Monza – Formula 1 news
Virgin Racing team driver Jerome d’Ambrosio has said that he cannot wait to drive his MVR-02 car at high speed in Monza.
The 13th round of the 2011 Formula 1 season will start from September 9, 2011 at the Monza racetrack.
After his home Grand Prix in Belgium, d’Ambrosio is looking forward to a successful race weekend in Italy.
The team driver talked to the media and added that he really enjoyed the 2011 Belgium Grand Prix, as he drove his car in front of his fans and family throughout the race weekend. In addition, he stated that Spa was a special weekend for him, because his
home fans fully supported him during the Grand Prix.
Talking to the reporters, d’Ambrosio said, “My home Grand Prix has come and gone but I will never forget what a fantastic weekend it was. I want to say thank you to all the Belgian fans for their support, it was a very special weekend and it’s always great
to be at home.”
Apart from that, the 25-year-old driver discussed the upcoming race weekend of the 2011 F1 season. He mentioned that the speed is important for the Italian Grand Prix due to the high-speed corners and long straights of the Monza racetrack.
He went on to say, “I now can’t wait to drive a Formula One car at high speed in Monza. Speed is important, but braking stability is also vital, as well as the ability to ride the kerbs. The atmosphere here is also very special, with a lot of emotional Italian
fans that will cheer us on from the grandstands.”
The Dinnington-based outfit driver finished 12 rounds of the ongoing season without scoring a single point for his team.
In the 2011 Belgium Grand Prix, d’Ambrosio was quite slow at Spa-Francorchamps. He came at the 17th place in the final race classifications after struggling with his MVR-02 car.
The team will test some new parts in their car during the Friday Free Practice sessions.
Let’s see how both of the drivers Timo Glock and d’Ambrosio manage their race in Italy this weekend following their below par performance in the season so far.
