Jerome d’Ambrosio feels pleased with his performance in 2012 Italian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lotus driver, Jerome d’Ambrosio who raced in place of Romain Grosjean during the 2012 Italian Grand Prix, has said that he is very much pleased with his performance in the race.
Grosjean was hit by a one-race suspension penalty for the accident which he caused in the Belgian GP due to his unfair driving as a result of which including him three other drivers, McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, Sauber’s Sergio Perez and Ferrari’s Fernando
Alonso could not score even a single point as they had to face retirement too.
D’Ambrosio came to race at Autodromo di Monza with highest hopes and with full support of his team. He secured 15th grid position for the race in the qualifying. Later on, he performed quite convincingly and managed to secure 13th place
finish even with KERS failure.
The Belgian driver said that although he had a good start but his KERS stopped working during the 6th lap, which kept on hampering his pace throughout the remaining race. Nevertheless, he said that he is not feeling upset over his uncompetitive
result in the previous race as he strived at his best and is delighted with his performance. He also said that he performed really well on the medium Pirelli compound tyres during the second part of the race.
“After losing my KERS on lap 6 it was always going to be tough as that's worth about half a second per lap around here,” he said. “I got a good start and was up fighting with Daniel [Ricciardo] and Nico [Rosberg], but once I lost that extra boost it was
impossible to keep up and I dropped back. My last stint on the medium tyres in clean air was pretty good and I didn't make many mistakes, so maybe with a bit more luck we could have had a slightly better result.”
Besides, he said that his target was to complete the race which he attained. Additionally, he said that he is very happy to be in the team which is capable enough of winning the world championship while he said that he has learned a lot during the last weekend.
