Jerome d’Ambrosio says he is not setting any targets for 2012 Italian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lotus test driver Jerome d’Ambrosio, who is going to replace Romain Grosjean in the 2012 Italian Grand Prix this weekend, has said that he is not setting any kind of targets for him as he has no past performance for comparison.
Grosjean was hit by a penalty of one-race suspension after the accident caused by him in the Belgian GP, as a result of which including him, three other drivers namely, Lewis Hamilton of McLaren, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and Sergio Perez of Sauber had
to face retirement too.
Later on, the race stewards banned the Frenchman from taking part in the Italian GP. Therefore, the Enstone based team made the decision to give d’Ambrosio a chance to race at Monza this weekend.
Meanwhile, the Belgian driver expressed a great delight on the opportunity being provided to him to show his potential and said that he is prepared to deliver his best in the race ahead.
Moreover, he said that although he is going to race in quite tough circumstances but he is feeling optimistic and is hoping to attain reasonable points in the approaching race.
In addition, he said that he can’t set any goals for the upcoming race as he has no performance in the past with which he can compare the result. Besides, he said that he is keeping his full focus on the race day and will try his best to come up to the expectations
of his team.
“I think it's very difficult, simply because I don't have much information to set myself a position target or anything,” d'Ambrosio said. “I really want to stay focused on what I can do, the job with the engineers in the car, stay focused on that. Once that
is done correctly we can go for something on Sunday but only if I stay focused on my job so this is what I will try to do.”
“I haven't had time to think about anything really, just really getting things done and that's it,” he added.
It will be interesting to see how d’Ambrosio performs with the lower-downforce configuration in the next race.
