I was reading an article in Microsoft's acquisition of Yahoo, and it said Jerry Yang, the CEO and cofounder of the company has only 3.9% of Yahoo shares. Why is it so low? With such small amount of shares of the company, how is he the decision maker of the company?

  1. The board of directors elected Yang to be the CEO, it has nothing to do with his ownership percentage.  Reason its so low, well I don't know really, could have been diluted when he courted the VC's.  Then again didn't he leave for awhile and then come back just a few years ago.  Maybe he sold his majority share when he left.

  2. that's a biggest mistake he has made if it is so at 3.9%. Reason : Not even bills gates hold 3.9% of his founder microsoft corporation.

A founder usually hold from 49% or 50% or 51% of his company.
