Jerryd Bayless eager to help out his new team Memphis Grizzlies in any way possible – NBA Update
The Memphis Grizzlies have not made any big time moves during the offseason, however they have managed to bring in Jerryd Bayless, and the player is very eager to be a key part of the Grizzlies rotation.
"Whatever they want, I'm willing to do it and I'm really looking forward to it,” – Bayless said recently.
Bayless, originally a first round draft pick in 2008, has had a well travelled career so far. He played with three teams prior to joining Memphis and is more than willing to take on any responsibility. His main job this season
will be to backup point guard Mike Conley and provide the team an option on the perimeter, especially after they have let O.J. Mayo go in the free agency.
The 24 year old had a bumpy start to his career, but has somewhat been able to live up to his potential in the last year and half. After playing for the Portland Trail Blazer for the first two years of his career, he had a short
stint with the New Orleans before joining the Toronto Raptors.
Bayless was able to hold his career best average of 11.4 points in the 31 games he played for the Rap. During that span, he shot the ball 42.3 percent from three point land, a feat he looks to continue following his arrival in
Memphis.
"If it goes in, it goes in. If it doesn't, I keep shooting because I feel confident enough it eventually will go in," Bayless said.
Memphis have been a team on the rise in the last two years. The club has been able to secure back to back berths in the post season and finished the last regular season at a franchise best 5th spot in the Western Conference.
On both occasion though, the Grizzlies struggled to make it big in the playoffs.
With Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol, Marreese Speights present, the front court is not much of a worry for the Grizzlies. Their only weak link is the back court and the franchise would be hoping Bayless reduces their concerns somewhat.
Bayless should have no problems settling down with a new team. He has a strong relationship with Rudy g*y and Conley; both of whom have been his friends since high school, while Zach Randolph has been an acquaintance from his days
with the Trail Blazers.
