Jerryd Bayless leads as Toronto Raptors beat Cleveland Cavaliers 96-88 - NBA Recap
On Tuesday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers were looking for their 1st 4 game winning streak in two years but the Toronto Raptors shattered their dreams with a 96-88 win at the Quicken Loans Arena.
Raptors have been enjoying a supremacy over the Cavs this season and have now improved to 3-0.
Jerryd Bayless led his team by scoring 20 points and power forward Andrea Bargnani, who is gathering momentum after recovering from injury, poured in 19 points and 8 assists. Leandro Barbosa collected 17 coming off the bench and
Amir Johnson barely missed his double-double as he netted 10 points to go with 9 rebounds.
The game remained closely contested with 4 ties and 4 lead. Deep into the opening frame Cavs were having a 19-14 advantage but Raptors clawed that off by pulling a 5-0 run and tied the scores at 19 apiece. The hosts however managed
to conclude the segment after claiming a fragile 22-21 margin.
Tristan Thompson led the Cavs to 26-21 by hitting a jumper and a pair from charity stripe early in the 2nd, but Cleveland stretched it to 40-36 after some seesaw action in the ensuing passage. The away side reeled off
a huge 15-2 run deep through the frame and switched places with the hosts after claiming a 51-42 advantage and capped off the stanza after stretching it to 54-46.
Leandro Barbosa had 12 points while Andrea Bargnani rung up 8 in the 2nd quarter and Raptors never looked back in the game afterwards.
Toronto managed to augment their lead to 69-61 deep into the 3rd segment and they didn’t face any difficulty to convert it into a double digit 75-65 advantage by the end of quarter.
With 6:02 left in the 4th quarter, Raptors were leading at 88-75 before the Cavs reeled off a 13-6 run to trim the double digit deficit to 94-88. However they couldn’t score afterwards and Andrea Bargnani netted a jumper
to help Raptors grab their 14th win of the season with 96-88 margin.
Antawn Jamison tallied 20 points and was not pleased with the outcome.
"I'm so frustrated right now I can't stand it. Toronto is a bad matchup for us, just like we were for the Knicks last year. We definitely knew how important this game was because that team had already beaten us twice."
Alonzo Gee shared 16 apiece with Ramon Sessions while rookie Kyrie Irving recorded 14 points for the Cavs.
