  1. Who's law would it be under?  Would it be Jewish Law, Christian Law or Muslim Law?

  2. Vatican City is an independent nation, not an "international" city. and it is only a tiny section of succeeded Rome land.

Vatican city is 100% Roman Catholic and only Roman Catholics employed or studying in Vatican city can get citizenship, and they lose it once they no longer work or study there.

So how do you expect the entire city of Jerusalem to be ruled by 3 major religions with various factions and sects and a good number of the population of Jerusalem not even being religious and not go and kill each other?

  3. Holy See is the center of the catholic church, ONLY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.

There seem to be a confusion between the Vatican City State, the minuscule state that exists only since 1929, and the Holy See (of Rome), which is the entity which is active in all international relationships except those of a clearly territorial nature, such as membership of UPU (Universal Postal Union), INTELSAT, CEPT and UNIDROIT (International Institute for the Unification of Private Law).

Jerusalem is the center of Judaism, the most holy city to Jews,  the city  was there long before Islam came to be, the fact Muslims built two Mosques on the ruins of the Jewish Temple on the holy of holies to the Jews, does not give them any rights.

It can not be anything other than a Jewish city, as Makkah Al-Mukarramah IPA: [(Arabic) mækːæ(t) ælmʊkarˑamæ]; Arabic: مكّة المكرمة‎) Islam's holiest city can't become international tomorrow.

  4. jerusalem belongs to the jewish people, it is the capital of israel.Ever since King David made Jerusalem the capital of Israel more than 3,000 years ago, the city has played a central role in Jewish existence. The Western Wall in the Old City — the last remaining wall of the ancient Jewish Temple, the holiest site in Judaism — is the object of Jewish veneration and the focus of Jewish prayer. Three times a day, for thousands of years, Jews have prayed "To Jerusalem, thy city, shall we return with joy," and have repeated the Psalmist's oath: "If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning."

Jerusalem "has known only two periods of true greatness, and these have been separated by 2,000 years. Greatness has only happened under Jewish rule," Leon and Jill Uris wrote in Jerusalem. "This is so because the Jews have loved her the most, and have remained constant in that love throughout the centuries of their dispersion....It is the longest, deepest love affair in history."

“For three thousand years, Jerusalem has been the center of Jewish hope and longing. No other city has played such a dominant role in the history, culture, religion and consciousness of a people as has Jerusalem in the life of Jewry and Judaism. Throughout centuries of exile, Jerusalem remained alive in the hearts of Jews everywhere as the focal point of Jewish history, the symbol of ancient glory, spiritual fulfillment and modern renewal. This heart and soul of the Jewish people engenders the thought that if you want one simple word to symbolize all of Jewish history, that word would be 'Jerusalem.'”

  5. and who would rule this international state ->

    Jews, Muslims or Christians?

and i strongly agree with Ms. Miche, Kol Hakavod

  6. Suggesting to give up Jerusalem doesn't give peace to this conflict.  It just adds fuel to the fire, so to speak.

The majority of Israel would not even allow such a suggestion. Just because people ask (not so nicely too I might add, them, not you) doesn't mean they should acquire.  Just because there is conflict does not mean that one side should be appeased for the sake of peace.  This is a false peace.  People want a lasting peace.

It would actually make matters worse.  The radical arab and islamic extremists within the population would gain more momentum to go after the rest of Israel. It would be a "half victory" for them that Israel's capital was wrestled out of them by international or joint control.  One more foot in the door to further their cause, so to speak.

I don't give up anything to bullies and terrorists.  I think the suggestion to do such is a radical one to appease a bully at the expense of its victim.

They don't just want Jerusalem, which  would be a jewel in anybody's crown, they want the whole shebang.  Jerusalem needs to remain in the hands of its rightful owners as does the rest of the world's capitals. Jerusalem isn't even mentioned once in the Quran.

Internationally speaking, other nations have difficulty combating their own arab and islamic extremism. 20 years from now, Heaven forbid, that London and Paris should be handed over to the international world for the sake of false peace.

Paris was burning in riots and a Muslim youth was shouting to the police "get out of my occupied France." London has issues with their own extremists and giant mosques.

The world just needs to wake up to what's really going on. http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/669.htm

Israel was given to His faithful servants.  He promised and does not rescind of this promise.  G-d bless Jerusalem, Israel and B'nei Israel.

  7. Hello Mystical Mamba,

The Vatican is for Catholic people, Mecca is for Muslim people

and Jerusalem is for Jewish people.

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Miche ; })

  8. when the muslims controlled jerusalem from 48-67, it was in ruins, there was no tourism, jews and christians were not allowed to visit their holy places.

under israeli control, the city is beautiful and well taken care of, tourism is thriving, and all religions have access to their holy sites.

jerusalem is the capital of israel and always will be, and no one has anything to complain about.

  9. East Jerusalem is legally recognized as a Palestinian city. There is no country in the world including the USA is willing to recognize East Jerusalem as an Israeli city. The Israeli right wing argument dose not hold any water any where in the world.

    The Law Among Nations.

  10. Vatican city is it's own nation so this is a pointless comparison. And Jerusalem is the forever capital. what right do Muslims have to do? Nothing. Because what there is even there's besides that big dome that will be destroyed one day? Nothing.

  11. Sounds like a good, fair and just idea, but perhaps some people love control and ownership more than God? Peace.

  12. I'm a religious Jew, but I would have no problem with the Old City in Jerusalem becoming an international city.  It could be jointly patrolled by Israeli and Jordanian police.  All would need to speak Hebrew and Arabic and a third major language (e.g., English, French, German, Spanish).  The northern and eastern sides of Jerusalem, outside of the Old City, could become part of a Palestinian state and the western and southern sides would be Israeli.

But, the key is this core group of Israeli and Jordanian police who would patrol together and keep the peace together and protect all religious sights together.

  13. I'm not sure that the Vatican is a valid comparison.

However, I think that eventually Jerusalem will have to be divided between West and East again.  Israel has controlled East Jerusalem since 1967, and one of the top concerns for Palestinians is that it be returned to their control and be their capital.

East Jerusalem is mostly Arab still and has the most holy site to Muslims (the Dome of the Rock) outside of Mecca.  There will never be peace in Israel until the Israelis end the occupation and allow the Palestinians their own country with East Jerusalem as their capital.  West Jerusalem would be the capital of Israel.

That would be a great step towards final peace and good for Israelis and Palestinians alike.  However, I think both sides are too stubborn to allow compromise into their thinking.

Lately, I feel like Israelis and Palestinians deserve each other. Both sides are stubborn and will resort to brutality and killing before negotiations.

  14. Ms. Miche gets my vote. Jerusalem refers to a wholeness--how can you divide it and still keep it whole--Jerusalem is the UNIFICATION of the Secular Government with the Religious Government, whereas Vatican and Mecca are religious capitals ONLY. It was King David of Judea in Israel who brought the Ark to Jerusalem--no other nation or religion can make this claim! The Palestinians in Jerusalem would still face Mecca.

  15. It should be a separate entity governed by the international community, yet allowing one part to be the capital of an independent Israel and the other to be the capital of a free and united independent State of Palestine.  International police and military would need free and unrestricted access both through Israel and through Palestine to the city to maintain its peace and order.

  16. Vatican and Jerusalem is not an apple-to-apple comparison. Jerusalem is the eternal undivided capital of Israel. Nothing will change it. Moreover, freedom of worship is already fully granted by Israeli government.

  17. currently, it's divided into 4 religious sections

  18. It is,legally,it simply isn't enforced. Under the 1947 UN Partition Plan - google it up - which the jewish Agency accepted - Jerusalem became an international zone. It was originally to have been administered by a UN-appointed commission, but the jews seized the western half, while the Jordanians defended the eastern. It is certainly was a more intelligent approach then what we see today. In any event, that is still international law. It does not and cannot belong to any country.
