Jeserick Pinto wins Women’s 100m backstroke gold: Day four – Venezuela Open Championships
Jeserick Pinto of SCLN won gold medal of the Women’s 100m backstroke in the 14 and above category on fourth day of the Venezuela Open Championships in Maracaibo on May 20.
The 22-year-old Pinto faced tough competition from her challenger in the first lap but with her strong determination, she went full throttle in the second lap and proved her eligibility for gold medal.
Pinto enjoyed a lead of half body length over her strongest competitor and made her way to the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 05.01 seconds.
The champion remained 0.58 seconds ahead of Elimar Barrios of MASBO, who followed Pinto on the victory stand for silver medal by submitting a time of 1 minute and 05.59 seconds.
Third spot of the event was secured by Maria L Ramirez of HHISP, who was almost one and a half body length slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 07.01 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Erika Torrellas of MAXVI, who remained 0.79 seconds slower and hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 1 minute and 07.80 seconds.
Next was the Men’s 100m freestyle in same age group, where Cristian Quintero of PNUDC snared gold medal of the discipline. The 20-year-old Quintero stayed prominently ahead of his opponents and emerged on the finishing end for gold medal with the timing of 50.37 seconds.
His title-claiming effort remained 0.44 seconds ahead of Roberto Gomez of SCLN, who secured silver medal of the discipline by submitting an effort of 50.81 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Crox E Acuna of ADAC, who was just 0.09 seconds apart and concluded his race with the timing of 50.90 seconds for bronze medal.
The third position holder was chased by Luis Rojas of SCLN, who stayed 0.15 seconds behind and settled on the finishing wall as fourth position holder with the timing of 51.05 seconds.
In addition, the championship came to an end after the conclusion of all planned events while the podium finishers received medals for their gruelling efforts after the session.
