Jess Jackson famous thoroughbred horse owner dies of cancer – Horse Racing news
The tragic news of the death of Jess Jackson, who was a well known owner of thoroughbred horses, has come to light. Jacksons passing occurred recently due to cancer. Jackson’s horse loving life reached its close at the age of 81.
The death of the famous horse owner took place at his home yesterday. This news was verified by the spokeswoman of the horse owner’s company. Apart from being a tasteful equine enthusiast, Jackson also ran a company that dealt with making wine. The winery
that the deceased owned was named Jackson Family Wines.
Jackson was first a wine maker than a horse owner. Jackson spent a good part of his life making and strengthening his winery business after which he developed a passion for horse racing. The business empire that he managed to build in his lifetime is now
worth several millions of dollars. A symbol of Jackson’s successful efforts into the winery business is the fact that Kendall-Jackson has become one of the leading brands of wine the world over.
Once Jackson had made his mark in the winery business, he set his heart on horse racing by starting with the Stonestreet Stable. As sharp and good as his business instinct was, Jackson made the right choices being a thoroughbred horse owner as well. He made
the purchase of Rachel Alexandra in the year 2009. This was the same year in which the horse was able to earn herself the honour of being the winner of the 2009 Kentucky Oaks.
The horse did not only win the race, she was also able to set a new record while doing so. Recognizing the potential of Rachel Alexandra, Jackson had made the purchase and allowed her to be a part of the Preakness. Fulfilling her owner’s expectations and
doing him proud, Rachel Alexandra was able to secure the second leg of the Triple Crown. This was the first time in a period of 85 years that any filly was able to make the accomplishment.
Upon his death, Jackson has left behind a wife, five children as well as two grand children.
