Jesse Levine destroys Denes Lukacs
in 2nd qualifying – Charlottesville Challenger 2011
American fourth seeded Jesse Levine took out Hungarian Denes Lukacs in the second qualifying round of Charlottesville Challenger 2011.
The players took up the gauntlet on indoor hard courts of the Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Virginia. It took Levine only forty five minutes to get rid of the unseeded Hungarian in straight sets of 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday the 30th of
October 2011.
Levine started with an assertive play and dominated both the sets. He not only had a laser precision but also managed to target a grand 85 percent of his first serves and accomplished an ostentatious 88 percent of his first serve points won in the opening
set.
He had sturdy defence which did not falter even once and he also did not setup a single breakpoint opportunity. Moreover, he had a beautiful return which assisted him in achieving an above average 56 percent of his total return points.
Mean while, Lukacs never really tried and lost most of his points because of a poor return. In addition, he was unable to save both of his breakpoints and had failing defence along with, offense.
The first round of the match was inaugurated by Levine, who managed to reel off straight three games over his adversary by capitalizing on an early break in the second game. He placed himself on the scoreboard with a mini lead of 3-0. It was in the fourth
game that Denes made a return by holding his serve; however, he was unable to capitalize on a single break.
In the following two games, the players held their serves and in doing so; Denes reduced the deficit to 2-4 but was unable to muster any more games, while, Levine had further increased his lead to 4-2 by the end of the sixth game. As Levine served, he smashed
a stunning forehand winner and accomplished the seventh game. As Denes double faulted on his second serve of the eighth game; Levine secured the opening set with a 6-2 victory.
Kicking off the second round of the match was once again Levine and this time the players bagged their service games to rotate the scoreboard at 1-1. In the third game Levine held his serve and then in the fourth capitalized from a breakpoint and took a
mini lead of 3-1 on the scoreboard. In subsequent two games the players held serve and the score rotated at 4-2 by the end of the sixth game.
During the last two games Levine once more reeled off straight two games and managed to seal his victory of the set and the match. The fourth seeded American did not endorse a single breakpoint opportunity to his adversary in the entire match!
The fourth seeded American will now be facing sixth seeded Mirza Basic in the final qualies of the event.
