Jesse Ryder hopes to be fully fit in time for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 tour - Cricket News Update
The injured http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JD-Ryder-c1679, is hopeful he will be completely fit for selection for the tour of Australia, starting in December this year.
Ryder, the 27-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 during their recently concluded tour. The all-rounder was subsequently ruled out of the
Test match.
He told the media reporters on Friday that he is undergoing a rehab process with the physio of Firebirds, and is expected to recover from the injury well in time for the Australia tour.
"The calf is good," said Ryder while talking to the media reporters at a New Zealand Cricket event in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766. "I have just spent two-and-a-half days up in Napier, with the Firebirds [Wellington's first-class team] physio, trying
to get it right,” he added further.
The all-rounder is eying a comeback to competitive cricket by playing in the Plunket Shield, New Zealand’s first-class cricket championship.
“At the moment I'm pretty happy with where it is at, and hopefully I get to play next week in the Plunket Shield,” said Ryder adding, "It will be good to have a bat. I'm definitely keen to get a hit out there before hopefully getting
selected for the Aussie tour."
Ryder, who is also a handy medium pacer, said that he is also keen to bowl, but after a series of injuries he does not feel completely fit to take the ball.
"I hadn't bowled for five months so it probably wasn't my best idea to take the ball, I shouldn't have been bowling in the first place. So I won't be bowling [again] till I'm fully fit and strong," said the all-rounder who bats left-handed
and bowls right-arm medium pace.
He had strained his calf muscle last year as well, and missed the limited overs leg of India's tour in November last year. The Wellington all-rounder also turned down the perspective that being overweight is the real cause of trouble,
saying that it is just people’s opinion and he feels himself fit enough to play cricket.
The Black Caps are scheduled to play two Tests Down Under in the first half of December.
