Jessi Gebhardt finishes 70th at Credit Union Challenge 2012
American Jessi Gebhardt, who finished runner-up in the last edition of the Credit Union Challenge, displayed an unimpressive performance in the 2012 edition of the much-hyped tournament as she finished 70th
after carding a 222 on the leaderboard.
Gebhardt was one of the players who desperately wanted to win the 2012 Credit Union Challenge because she came close to winning the tournament last year. The American star had lost to fellow American Sydnee
Michaels by a narrow margin last year.
Commentators said that Gebhardt started the match with full confidence as she looked firm to do her best this time. However, she started to falter from the opening round and ended up carding an unimpressive
score.
She kicked off the last round on Sunday in an impressive style, as she drained a birdie on the very first hole. She, however, could not maintain the momentum and started faltering on the next holes.
Gebhardt’s fans were waiting to see some solid strokes from their favourite player, but they were let down when the American star carded a series of bogeys, making a severe dent in her score.
With seven bogeys and one double bogey, the ambitious star posted a 79 in the third round, which dragged her down to the bottom of the leaderboard. The second hole proved a little tricky for Gebhardt, as she
could not handle the ball properly and ended up carding a bogey.
She parred the third, but let down her fans once again after she made a double bogey on the most difficult par-3 fourth hole. In a bid to get back in contention, the struggling American parred the fifth, but
further tainted her score by shooting three straight bogeys on the sixth, seventh and eighth hole.
On the back nine, her confidence remained as shaky as it was in the opening round. Gebhardt made two consecutive bogeys on 12th and 13th hole, letting her rivals walk all over her.
Analysts said that the American golfer would have done a lot better if she had made a solid start. They said that getting off to a shaky start took a toll on her confidence and she kept faltering in the three
rounds.
