Jessi Miley-Dyer appointed as ASP Women’s World Tour Manager
Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) International has appointed Australia’s Jessi Miley-Dyer as the new ASP Women’s World Tour Manager.
The ASP Executive Chairman Richard Grellman made the announcement regarding the new manager of women’s elite tour in Queensland, Australia, on Tuesday, January 3.
Welcoming the 25-year-old Dyer to the ASP management team, Grellman said, “We’re confident that she’ll serve the girls well as we work towards stabilizing and enhancing this dimension of our sport.”
The New South Wales-based Miley-Dyer is a former ASP World Junior Champion and remained a part of the elite ASP Women’s World Tour line-up for six years. She was named the Rookie of the Year by ASP in 2006, the same year in which she won the World Qualifying
Series (WQS).
Miley-Dyer had been serving as the women’s representative in the ASP Board prior to her appointment as the Women’s World Tour manager. The ASP believe that she will bring a large amount of experience to the key position that she has been given and will perform
her duty with proficiency as efforts are made to provide stabilisation and enhancement to female surfing.
The newly appointed Women’s World Tour manager is thrilled about moving to the ASP head office and working alongside some of the best surfers from around the globe.
“It’s an honour to serve the girls on tour right now,” Miley-Dyer said. “I’ve been following the tour my whole life and can confidently say that we’ve never had such an incredible mix of talent as we do in 2012. It’s an exciting time for women’s surfing
and I’m looking forward to working with the girls this season.”
As per the announcement by Grellman, Miley-Dyer is to start serving as the women’s elite tour’s manager immediately.
The previous year of Women’s World Tour turned out to be quite a success and brought the female surfers under spotlight due to an exhibition of outstanding performances and undeniable skills during the campaign for the World Title. Hawaii’s Carissa Moore
established herself as the best female surfer of the year after finishing in top-three at all seven stops of the shortened version of the season.
The 2012 Women’s World Tour will kick off with Roxy Pro Gold Coast that is scheduled to go down in Australia from February 25 – March 7.
