Jessica Dickons clinches Women’s 200m butterfly title: Day five – 2011 World University Games
Day five of the 2011 World University Games saw the impressive splash of Jessica Dikcons in the butterfly final in Shenzhen, China, on Thursday, August 18. The session of the meet organised the Women’s 200m butterfly final.
In the corresponding race, Jessica Dikcons of Great Britain snared the gold medal on the podium by submitting a matchless time of 2 minutes and 08.91 seconds. That victory moved her to 23rd place in the current rankings of international swimming.
Previously, Dickons took home the gold medal in the Women’s 200m butterfly meet at the 2011 edition of the Summer Universiade, in Shenzhen.
In addition, she secured the bronze medal in the 200m butterfly race at the 2008 edition of the World Championships, in Manchester. In the corresponding meet, she notched the bronze medal at the 2006 edition of the European Championships, in Helsinki.
Meanwhile, Natsumi Hoshi of Japan earned the silver medal on the podium by posting a stunning time of 2 minutes and 08.94 seconds, while Ra Hye Choi of Korea clinched the bronze title of the meet by submitting an impressive time of 2 minutes and 09.35 seconds.
Martina Berkel Van of Switzerland was placed fourth with a matchless time of 2 minutes and 10.36 seconds, while Amy Smith of Australia finished fifth in a time of 2 minutes and 10.44 seconds. Silvia Meschiari of Italy wound up sixth with a time of 2 minutes
and 11.78 seconds.
In the corresponding event, Andrea Taylor of United States of America was placed seventh in a time of 2 minutes and 12.94 seconds, whereas, Katherine MacKenzie Downing of Canada earned eighth place honours in a time of 2 minutes and 12.98 seconds.
Earlier in the day, Glenn Synders of New Zealand secured the Men’s 50m breast-stroke title of the meet by submitting an immaculate time of 27.37 seconds. Brazil’s Joao Junior picked up the silver medal in a time of 27.60 seconds, while Mattia Pesce of Italy
notched bronze medal on the podium with a time of 27.80 seconds.
