Jessica Hansen earns Girls 100m breaststroke gold – 2013 GHSF Australian Championships
Jessica Hansen of MLC Aquatic seizes gold medal of the Girls 100m breaststroke on first day of the 2013 GHSF Australian Age Swimming Championships in SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Adelaide on Monday, April 8.
The 17-year-old Hansen faced strong competition from her closest competitor throughout the race but with her astonishing efforts in the final half of the race, she managed to secure the title. With her strong commitment and astounding pace, she managed to
ascend on the scorecard for first position.
With her notable efforts in the double lap event, Hansen gained a lead of just one arm-stroke over her following swimmer and surfaced on the finishing end for first position by producing an effort of 1 minute and 09.18 seconds.
The champion was followed by Taylor McKeown of Aust Crawl, who was 0.15 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and emerged on the wall for silver medal with the timing of 1 minute and 09.33 seconds.
The second best finisher was followed by Lile Collins of Traralgon, who stayed nearly two seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for bronze medal by posting an effort of 1 minute and 11.25 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Samantha Wilkins of Waterlions, who stayed 0.35 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end by tapping the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 11.60 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Cha Westheafer of Abbotsleigh, who was 0.60 seconds apart and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 12.20 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Carle Millikin of Willoughby, who was 0.82 seconds ahead of her following swimmer and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 13.02 seconds.
Following that, the audience saw ruthless efforts of Chris Licciardi and Emily Zukic, who concluded their swims in seventh and eighth place with timings of 1:13.14 and 1:13.21 minutes respectively.
Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable form at the prize distribution ceremony of the event after the session.
