Jessica Hardy claims Women’s 50m freestyle title in Georgia: 2011 USA Swimming Winter Nationals
World champion, Jessica Hardy of Trojan Swim Club exploded her rivals during the opening day of the 2011 USA Swimming Winter Nationals, in Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday, December 1.
Hardy claimed Women’s 50m freestyle in the arena by beating her challengers involving Dara Torres and Lara Jackson in a thrilling time of 25.08 seconds. Jessica Hardy was the gold medallist in the 50m breast-stroke at the 2011 World Championships edition,
in Shanghai. In addition, she won gold medal in the respective race at the 2007 World Championships edition, in Rome.
Moreover, Hardy claimed three gold medals in 4x100m medley, 50m and 100m breast-stroke events at the 2008 World Championships edition, in Manchester. Furthermore, she grabbed five gold titles at the 2006 and 2010 Pan Pacific Championships, in Victoria and
Irvine, respectively.
In the meantime, Dara Torres of South Florida Aq took home the silver title in the respective meet by claiming the finishing divider in a riveting blot of 25.24 seconds and the bronze medal was snatched by Lara Jackson of Tucson Ford Deal in a time of 25.30
seconds. Additionally, Chris Magnuson of Tucson Ford Deal claimed fourth position in the respective meet by banging the finishing barrier in a time of 25.46 seconds.
Vanlandeghem of Manta earned fifth place honour by thrashing the finishing barricade in a mark of 25.47 seconds, while the sixth place went to Erika Erndl of T2 Aquatics-FL in a time of 25.49 seconds. Moreover, Jane Trepp grabbed seventh position by claiming
the finishing barricade in a mark of 25.53 seconds and the eighth place honour went to Amanda Weir of SwimAtlanta in a spot of 25.57 seconds, respectively.
Olympic medallist Dana Vollmer of California Aquat surprisingly clinched ninth spot in the respective swim by hitting the finishing blockade in a time of 25.60 seconds. Vollmer was the gold medallist in 4x200m freestyle at the 2004 Olympic Games, in Athens.
Besides, she claimed many gold titles in the World Championships, Pan Pacific Championships, Pan American Games and Summer Universiade throughout her career. Finally, the tenth place went to Ann Fittin of Maryland Terrapi in a mark of 25.70 seconds.
