Jessica Hardy clinches Women’s 50m breaststroke gold – FINA Swimming World Cup, Tokyo
Jessica Hardy of USA clinched gold medal of the Women’s 50m breaststroke on day two of the seventh stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday, November 7.
The American swimmer stifled hopes of her opponents in the shortest breaststroke discipline and made her way towards the wall for gold medal.
With her notable efforts in the two-lap event, Hardy managed to edge out her challengers over the finishing blockade for gold medal. She enjoyed a half body length lead over her toughest competitor and tapped the wall with a nice effort of 29.92 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Rikke Moller Pedersen of Denmark, who was 0.43 seconds slower and posted a time of 30.35 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Rebecca Ejdervik of Sweden, who stayed 0.17 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for third position by posting a time of 30.52 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Sarah Katsoulis of Australia, who stayed only 0.01 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by producing a time of 30.53 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained by Jennie Johansson of Sweden, who was 0.07 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end as fifth position holder by producing a time of 30.60 seconds.
Johansson was trailed by Samantha Marshall of Australia, who stayed 0.41 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 31.01 seconds for sixth position.
Marshall was chased by Maya Hamano of Japan, who stayed 0.07 seconds away from overpowering her former finisher and touched the wall for seventh position with a timing of 31.08 seconds.
Hamano was traced by her teammate, Rie Kaneto, who remained only 0.22 seconds slower from her former finisher and reached the finishing end as eighth position holder with a timing of 31.30 seconds.
In addition, Hardy was overjoyed with her title claiming effort in the breaststroke discipline and articulated that she would continue her hard work in order to achieve the same at forthcoming swimming tournaments.
