Jessica Hardy occupies Women’s 100m breaststroke gold – GHSF Australian Championships 2013 
Jessica Hardy of Trojan Swim Club occupied gold medal in the Women’s 100m breaststroke on the opening day of the 2013 Arena Grand Prix at Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte on Friday, May 10. Hardy
showed no mercy to her competitors in the final round of the race. With her astonishing efforts, she managed to outperform her rivals over the finishing line and secured the title.
The 26-year-old Hardy faced neck-to-neck competition from her following swimmers but with her commendable pace, she managed to touch the wall for gold medal with an effort of 1 minute and 07.03 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Molly Hannis of Univ Tennessee, who was just 0.36 seconds apart and clocked a time of 1 minute and 07.39 seconds. Hannis was traced by Laura Sogar of Bluefish Swim Club, who was
0.18 seconds behind and clocked a time of 1 minute and 07.57 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth position of the event was secured by Micah Lawrence of SwimMAC Carolina, who was more than a body length behind and settled on the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 08.72 seconds.
Similarly, Lawrence was chased by Annie Zhu of North Baltimore, who was 0.77 seconds away from her former finisher and clocked a time of 1 minute and 09.49 seconds for fifth place.
Sixth position of the event was obtained by Ashley Wanland of Unattached, who was just 0.17 seconds apart and took a time of 1 minute and 09.66 seconds.
Subsequently, Wanland stayed 0.22 seconds ahead of Rebecca Ejdervi of Unattached, who concluded her race in seventh place by ending her race in a time of 1 minute and 09.88 seconds.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Katie Meili of Unattached, who failed to sustain her fourth fastest qualification spot. Meili was unable to upset any of her opponents by posting a time of 1 minute
and 09.99 seconds.
In addition, Hardy expressed happiness over victory in the 100m discipline while the position holders were invited on the medals rostrum for accolades after the race.
