Jessica Hardy seizes Women’s 100m breaststroke gold – Swimming news
Jessica Hardy of Trojan-CA seized gold medal of Women’s 100m breaststroke on day one of the 2013 Speedo Grand Challenge at Woollett Aquatic Centre on Friday, May 24.
The 26-year-old hardy lived up to the expectations of her supporters in the 100m discipline as she earned her way towards the finishing end for first position. With her impeccable pace, she enjoyed a comfortable lead over her challengers and touched the
wall for gold medal.
Hardy stayed in a comfortable lead over her challengers and surfaced on the finishing end for the title with the timing of 1 minute and 07.31 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Joline Hostman of SWE, who was 1.39 seconds behind and stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 08.70 seconds.
Hostman was chased by Sarah B Haase of UN-12-PC, who was 1.14 seconds slower and concluded her race in a time of 1 minute and 09.84 seconds.
Andrea E Kropp of UN-20-CA, who was only 0.41 seconds slower and clocked a time of 1 minute and 10.25 seconds, followed the third best finisher.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Kasey Carlson of UN-20-CA, who stayed 1.50 seconds slower from her former finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 11.75 seconds.
Jorie A Caneta of Roadrunner-CC, who was only 0.27 seconds slower and posted time of 1 minute and 12.02 seconds, obtained sixth position of the race.
Similarly, Caneta was traced by Sarah Kaunitz of Pasa-PC, who was just 0.69 seconds slower and cruised her way towards the finishing end for seventh place by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 12.71 seconds.
Eighth position of the race was secured by Cariss Metcalf of UN-03-CA, who was 1.09 seconds slower from improving her position and ended her race in a time of 1 minute and 13.79 seconds.
Furthermore, Hardy received a huge round of applause from the audience for her notable pace while the winners were called upon the podium for accolades after the session.
