Jessica Korda eyes more victories in the upcoming tournaments
Jessica Korda appears to be in high spirits these days, as she is eyeing bigger goals in the current LPGA season.
She turned 19 this week, and is trying to maintain the magic form that she displayed in the Women’s Australian Open earlier this month.
American Korda is playing at the West Florida Golf Tour. Apart from the event’s excitement, Korda is happy to have Tony Jacklin in the field.
Expressing her views about her birthday, Korda said she could not have had a better present for her 19th birthday, as she has had a good opportunity to play among leading players.
Englishman Jacklin has been made the West Florida Golf Tour’s Ambassador, and this is what is keeping Korda hyped.
Korda said that she is feeling good about playing with Jacklin, who has racked up 2 major titles.
Playing with the champ is a side benefit, as Korda needs competitive rounds to hone her skills before she embarks on upcoming events.
Speaking of the event, Korda said that she is doing her best at the competitive round, but she has been a bit skeptical of her form.
She acknowledged that she has never been used to playing competitive rounds, which is proving a little more challenging than she had anticipated.
“It’s been hectic,” Korda said. “... Just having fun out here. Yeah, just seeing what I need to work on, because I’m playing in a completely different environment than what I have been”.
Korda said that playing among competent players at Florida is helping her correct her lapses. She said that the competitive round is a great source of learning for her.
“It was just a great learning experience about myself and what it feels like to be in that type of situation,” she said.
Jacklin, who was also enthusiastic about playing with the Aussie Open winner, said Korda proved more competent than he thought.
Jacklin appreciated her putting skills, saying she made calculated putts on most of the holes.  “She’s obviously an accomplished player,” Jacklin said.
“I haven’t played a lot of golf with a lot of the top women professionals. Played some over the last 40 years. And she’s a wonderful putter apart from having a very strong long game”.
