Jessica Korda picked as United States Sports Academy’s Female Athlete of the month
Jessica Korda, who kicked off the 2012 season in an impressive style, has stunned her fans yet again, as she has been picked as the United States Sports Academy’s Female Athlete of the month (February).  
The award is being given to the Aussie star in recognition of the quality game she has displayed recently.
Jessica grabbed the headlines in February, as she recorded a stellar victory in the Women’s Australian Open.
According to the details, the triumph at Royal Melbourne was Jessica’s first LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) achievement.
Keeping in mind her stunning form and work ethic, United States Sports Academy (USSA) officials decided to pick the Aussie.
The Academy’s officials said that they regularly hold ballot voting process for the players’ nomination.
They called on the people and fans to take part in the voting, saying their participation will speed up the process of monthly nominations.
The Academy’s websites is being used as a platform to cast votes, they said, adding that the results are put out on a monthly basis.
Analysts said that the selection of Korda is special, as she has come out as one of those female golfers who have contributed to women’s golf in terms of popularity and image building.  
The Academy nominated the current world number one Yani Tseng as the Female Athlete of the Year in 2011, highlighting the growing strength of women’s golf and the LPGA.
Selection of the Taiwanese prodigy was also appreciated by the Tour’s officials, as the other nominations came from other more popular sports.
For instance, the Male Athlete for the same year was Novak Djokovic,
a tennis star from Serbia.
Analysts said that Jessica Korda will gain plenty of confidence after this nomination, as she is already in high spirits following her victory at Royal Melbourne.
Korda not only recorded her first LPGA triumph, but she also saw a steep jump in her world ranking. According to the stats, Korda’s ranking surged to 82nd after she hoisted the trophy.
The 18-year-old star played amazingly well on the course and surprised the spectators by making calculated putts.
Korda said that she was extremely excited after recoding a victory in a tournament that is one of the most prestigious on the LPGA Tour. She said that she will try to repeat her magic form in the upcoming events.
